Brian Payne Eliminated in 8th Place ($14,645)

Nvel 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Brian Payne
Brian Payne

The action folded around to Brendon Rubie and he raised to 25,000. From one seat over in the cutoff, Brian Payne announced all in and all other opponents folded. Rubie asked the dealer for a count and once it had been determined to be 159,000 in total, he took a sip from his coffee.

Half a minute later, Rubie made the call and found himself behind with the worse kicker:

Payne: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Rubie: {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The {10-Spades} in the window was bad news for Payne and he failed to regain the lead after the board ran out {8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{J-Spades} to bust the Aussie in 8th place for A$14,645.

Dix Doubles

Nvel 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Michael Dix opened to 23,000 and Xixiang Luo three-bet, making it 75,000.

It folded back to Dix and he pushed in for another 280,000. Lou called with the {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}, but was on the wrong side of this classic cooler, with Dix holding the {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}.

Dix doubled up after a {5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} board brought little in the way of surprises.

Woodhead Gets Shorter

Nvel 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Stephen Woodhead raised to 26,000 from under the gun and Brian Payne as well as Dennis Huntly called out of the blinds. On the flop {Q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, Payne shoved and that took down the pot uncontested.

One hand later, Woodhead raised again and was called by Michael Dix as well as Shivan Abdine in the big blind. The flop was checked through, Woodhead then bet the {J-Spades} turn for 50,000. Only Abdine made the call and led for 60,000 when the {6-Clubs} appeared on the river. Woodhead gave it some thought and then released his cards into the muck.

Straight for Rubie

Nvel 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

In a battle of the blinds, Joris Ruijs checked the flop {4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and called a bet of 15,000 by Brendon Rubie. The {2-Diamonds} was checked through before Rubie then fired 66,000 on the {6-Hearts} river once the action was checked to him. Ruijs eventually called and then mucked when he was shown {J-Spades}{3-Clubs} by Rubie, who had made a straight.

Lou Shoves on Dix

Nvel 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

The first real confrontation of the final tables started with Michael Dix making it 27,000 on the button.

Chip leader Xixiang Luo bumped it up 39,000 more from the small blind and after Joris Ruijs gave up the big blind, Dix called.

Lou wasted little time, pushing all in on the {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop. Faced with a decision for all his 380,000-chip stack, Dix folded.
