GGPoker Spring Festival H-15: $10,300 Super Tuesday Action of the Day

The action began with 30 entrants but this figure ballooned to 141 entrants by the time the 280-minute late-registration window closed.

Things didn't start of swimmingly for Gottlieb as it took a tournament high five bullets (tied with Mikita Badziakouski) before things began to take off. While the $50K in buy-ins paid off handsomely for Gottlieb it didn't have the same affect for Badziakouski who didn't finish in the money.

A total of 59 players were active when late registration closed with 20 guaranteed at least a min-cash of $18,783. The money bubble broke 1 1/2 hours later Amichai Barer lost a flip with ace-queen suited against the jacks held by David Peters.

A slew of eliminations took place just after the money bubble broke with Andrii Novak, Wiktor Malinowski, Joni Jouhkimainen, Rui Ferreira, Jargo Alavali, Martin "Justbc0fU" Finger, and "judd trump" all exiting with a min-cash.

Anatoly Filatov
GGPoker Ambassador Anatoly Filatov

Shortly after, the two remaining GGPoker Ambassadors in the field in Anatoly Filatov and Fedor Holz were eliminated for $20,170 to leave just 11 players left in the field.

Sam Greenwood exited in 11th for $21,660 and the final table began after "xyzpoker" (10th - $23,260) couldn't get there with ace-jack against the ace-queen held by Fabrizio Gonzalez.

Vieira Kicks Off Final Table with the Lead

Joao Vieira
Joao Vieira began the final table with the chip lead

The final table took slightly more than two hours from start to finish. Blinds were rolled back to assure that the average stack would be at least 40 big blinds as per GGPoker's network policy for events that attract more than 100 entrants.

Vieira kicked off the final table with the chip lead with Peters, Gottlieb, and Timothy Adams as his closest competitors.

Gonzalez (ninth - $32,073) was the first player eliminated at the final table soon into the action despite coming onto the table in sixth place when he ran jacks into Gottlieb's cowboys to give him the chip lead.

The very next hand, "QuantumKey" was out the door in eigth place for $42,770 when his ace-three suited didn't get there against Vieira's jacks.

The lead then changed hands between a few players including Vieira and Peters before Gottlieb took it back. Gottlieb extended his lead when his ace-nine won a flip to eliminated Joakim Andersson (seventh - $57,035) who held pocket fives.

Adams reclaimed the lead while ousting Shawn Daniels in sixth place for $76,057 when his ace-ten suited paired up on the river against his opponent's snowmen.

Gottlieb snagged the chip lead once again when his snowmen held against the king-five held by Peters on a nine-seven-five flop. Peters was the first to collect a six-figure prize by banking the fifth-place prize of $101,423.

Gottlieb also eliminated the final three opponents but that doesn't mean he didn't give up the chip lead. He had half the chips in play three-handed after his cowboys held against Christian Rudolph's ace-three suited to send Rudolph out in fourth place for $135,520.

The action was fast and furious during three-handed play with all three players swapping the chip lead many times. Vieira had the lead until Gottlieb's king-queen suited won a flip against the pocket nines held by Adams (third - $180,359).

Heads-Up Action

Gottlieb began heads-up play with a small lead against Vieria before he extended it to a 2.5:1 chip advantage. Vieira narrowed the gap temporarily before Gottlieb had more than double his stack once again.

Vieira put himself in a good spot to double with king-ten when he called off Gottlieb's jack-nine shove. Gottlieb hit two pair on the flop and he eliminated Vieira in second place for $240,513.

Meanwhile, congrats to Lev "LevMeAlone" Gottlieb for an amazing win tonight at GGPoker.
