Another champion has now been crowned in the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) 2021 in SCOOP-53-M: $1,050 NLHE [8-Max, Progressive KO, Thursday Thrill], $1M Gtd. This was a two-day event that pulled in 1,178 entries and just 142 returned for the final day. When the last chance saloon had closed for business on Day 2, it was Russia's "FiatEruditio"
reigning supreme for a total payday worth $154,986.

A stacked final table saw "FiatEruditio" start on top and somehow manage to keep that lead throughout the entirety of it. They collected four bounties at the last table of the night and when they cashed in their own to go along with those, it was a massive $74,109 in juicy KO's. The Russian added that to their $80,877 first-place money to bring their total prize money to a cool six-figure payday.

It seemed as if no one could get in the way of "FiatEruditio" who cruised into the winner's circle although it was no easy feat nonetheless. It was fellow Russian "Langolier86" who found themselves in a heads-up match against a colossal stack that was owned by the steamrolling "FiatEruditio". Just a few hands into heads up, "Langolier86" put their stack in with king-queen and they were called by a pair of fives. A nickel instantly landed on the flop and "Langolier86" was dubbed the runner-up, sending over the last bounty of the event to the champion.

Final Day Action

The one million guarantee freezeout had an outstanding turnout of 1,178 runners which soared right on by with a total prize pool of $1,178,000. Once the money was reached all players bagged up for a final day that guaranteed at least a min-cash worth $1,187 with the top dog pulling in $80,877, plus the always sought-after bounties that were still up for grabs every step along the way.

It took just under three hours of play to reach the final three tables and at that point, it was "jeyduverne" leading the way with poker all-star Andras "probirs" Nemeth close behind. One of the first players to drop from the final three tables was the start of day chip leader Martin "marlin5555" Raus who had a cold run of cards before ultimately putting it in with ace-queen versus the pockets threes of Vredaren. Raus failed to connect and the Canadian was sent out the door.

A flurry of eliminations saw Narcis "Narcisus90" Nedelcu, Christian "eisenhower1" Jeppsson, and Mauricio "Mauricioint" de Farias take an exit. Leaving just nine to battle it out for a championship with "FiatEruditio" sitting on top of the leaderboard. A race to kick-off the final table left TheRealALTAL with a payout stub, dubbed the first final table casualty when their ace-queen failed to beat the nines of "MagischeM10".

"ddonkat" was someone constantly rolling around the top throughout this entire event but a pair of jacks failed to beat the ace-king of Canada's "n3xD" and they were sent packing. The biggest name at the final table was clearly Andras "probirs" Nemeth who was looking to add onto his already insane resume but it just wasn't his time. He ran ace-queen into the ace-king of "Billycadu242" and the rest is history.

The red-hot chipleader "FiatEruditio" was stacking chips when six-handed was rolling, having over twice as many as anyone else but they had yet snagged a final table bounty until Felipe "ketzerfelipe" Ketzer check-shoved with his flopped ten and "FiatEruditio" called with ace-king. Ketzer was in the lead for just a moment before an ace landed on the turn, hitting the leader with a pair to secure the pot and Ketzer was eliminated.

It was then down to five when "n3xD" moved in with king-queen versus the ace-jack of "MagischeM10". A turned ace sent "n3xD" to the rail and "MagischeM10" instantly shipped all of the chips over to "FiatEruditio" just hands later. "FiatEruditio" opened with kings and "MagischeM10" shoved their ace-jack, getting snapped by the kings. A flush draw landed on the turn for the short-stack but "FiatEruditio" faded the river, collecting another bounty as just three remained.

The Russian continued their terror, opening from the button with tens and "Billycapu242" then shoved with ace-five. "FiatEruditio" called and "Billycapu242" failed to land keep up, taking an exit in third place. "Langolier86" began the heads-up portion of this event at a massive chip deficit and it was almost instant that an all-in occurred. "Langolier86" opened with king-queen and "FiatEruditio" shoved pocket fives. "Langolier86" called and a lucky five landed on the flop. "Langolier86" had to settle for runner-up, pulling in a respectable $80,876 for their efforts.

That wraps it up for the PokerNews coverage of this event, but tune in tomorrow as SCOOP-64-H: $5,200 NLHE [Progressive KO, Sunday HR SE], $850K Gtd gets underway!
