Congratulations to "Virgilik", Winner of SCOOP 01-H: $215 NLHE Phase 2, $2M GTD for $161,650*

Nvel 32 : 800,000/1,600,000, 200,000 ante

Three days is all it took for the 10,813 player field in SCOOP 01-H: $215 NLHE Phase 2, $2M GTD to reach the final four, who struck a deal which left $20,000 to play for. The final day began with just 26 runners and when the last chance saloon had closed for business it was "Virgilik" sitting in the winner's circle after beating Brazil's Vincius "vinimiranda7" Miranda in heads-up to secure the title as champion, along with the extra $20,000, bringing their total prize to $161,650 for their victory.

"Virgilik" returned to the final day with just slightly above average in chips and it was not long before they were nearing the bottom of the barrel, continuing that pace all the way to the final table where they began in seventh. The low ball style of poker that they brought to the tabled carried them right into the top four, where all players decided to call the host for the ICM numbers. A deal was then agreed upon with "Virgilik" pulling in the lion's share and all four were to play for the $20,000 that was set aside.

Even though a deal was made that had all four runners to receive a nice payday, it seemed the play was at a standstill and it was not until "Killer_ooooo" took a race with sixes versus the big slick of the champ that things started to pick up. "Virgilik" pulled in the pot, snatching their first elimination of the final table. Shortly after it was "Gabriellln" who spiced things up, running a monster bluff on "Virgilik" but the Romanian snap-called to take a monstrous chip lead and "Gabriellln" was gone just hands later.

The heads-up portion saw Vincius "vinimiranda7" Miranda overcome a chip deficit early to take the lead but an ill-timed bluff sent it all back and he was then in the danger zone. Miranda had flopped middle pair on a queen-high board and elected to call himself all-in on the turn, only to see a queen in the hand "Virgilik" to be eliminated as the runner-up, taking home the $135,433 that was made in the four-way deal.

Action of the Tournament

The event had an advertised $2,000,000 guarantee that was shattered when 10,813 showed up over the span of all Day 1's, accumulating a $2,162,600 prize pool that had $200,006 set aside for the eventual champion. Day 2 began with 1,111 runners who were all in the money and when the final day ended it was Tatiana "Mysters_Y" Barausova sitting atop the 26 player field.

A final day of action saw many players drop early in the day including Barausova who took an exit in 18th place after running her top pair into the top two of "tonn22". The eliminations came all at once, having big names like Ivan "BanicIvan" Banic, Eduardo "SAFADA1" Fay, and Pedro "LgwZ" Grochocki take an exit just shy of the final table.

The first big hand of the final table resulted in a triple for Douglas "dougalopes" Lopes which saw "tonn22" head to the payout desk. "angrymoron" jammed suited connectors from the button, "tonn22" called in the small blind for less with big slick and Lopes call in as well with a pair of queens, having the smallest stack. Queens held on for the main but the side went to "angrymoron" who hit two pair as big slick failed to connect, dropping "tonn22" from the final table first. Miranda jumped into the action, jamming the small blind with ace-four, and "Plisner" called with a pair of treys. A turned four scooped the pot and "Plisner" took an exit.

Next up on the elimination list was "Nacho124441" who called themselves all-in with ace-eight versus the pocket sevens of Miranda who open-shipped the button. Miranda flopped a set of hockey sticks but "Nacho12441" flopped a flush draw that could overcome them. The board came out clean and "Nacho124441" was eliminated. Douglas "dougalopes" Lopes shoved their ace-jack over the top of a raise by "Gabriellln" who snap-called with big slick. Lopes failed to find some luck and took a walk through the exit.

The final four quickly started talking about a deal and it was then determined that all were to receive a six-figure payday with $20,000 set aside for the winner. "Killer_ooooo" was the first person to exit after the deal was made when their pocket sixes couldn't hold on versus the ace-king of "VirgiliK". "Gabriellln" bluffed off most of their stack before shoving ace-five into the big slick of Miranda. Ace-king held on and "Gabriellln" was eliminated in third place.

Heads-up had "Virgilik" sitting with the bigger of the stacks but Miranda instantly catapulted into the lead after check-shoving a monster pot that "Virgilik" quickly folded. Just hands later "Virgilik" checked a straight to Miranda who took the bait, trying to bluff with king-high and "Virgilik" then took a commanding lead. Miranda flopped a pair of tens on a queen-high board and "Virgilik" put them all-in on the turn. Miranda called with his pair of dimes, only to see a pair of queens by "Virgilik" who scooped the last hand of the night and Miranda was eliminated as the runner-up, taking home the $135,443 that was determined upon in the four-way deal.

That wraps it up for the PokerNews live reporting on this event but tune in for all of the updates throughout the series.
