Christopher Brewer

Christopher Brewer claimed his first WPT title in a big way after defeating a star-studded field in the WPT Online Series Event #5: $10,300 WPT High Roller for $249,791 at partypoker.

Brewer came close to WPT gold a few weeks ago when he took sixth place in the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown $25,500 No Limit Hold'em - High Roller for $128,935.

The High Roller provided extra value to all the players advancing to Day 2 in the money thanks to the 99 entries falling one player shy of the $1 million guarantee slapped on this event.

Day 2 Recap

Day 2 began with 17 hopefuls each guaranteed a $21,277 min-cash for more than double the $10,500 buy-in. Michael Addamo, entered the day with the chip lead with Brewer starting off in the middle of the pack in eighth place.

Tamas Adamszki, Dusk Til Dawn owner Rob Yong, and Artur Martirosian got no further than a min-cash as they became the first three players on the rail. A few more players hit the rail and not before long the seven-max final table was reach when David Peters was eliminated in eighth place for $30,476.

The final table was a 'who's who' in the poker with big names in every seat with Addamo (third - $116,183), Michael Watson (fourth - $80,047), Ramiro Petrone (fifth - $59,059), Simon Mattsson (sixth - $46,521), and Sergi Reixach (seventh - $37,676) all coming just shy of a big win.

It was two American poker ex-pats remaining at the end with Brewer and Shawn Daniels as the last two players standing. Daniels had to settle for the healthy runner-up prize of $166,429 while Brewer added nearly another quarter of a million to his bankroll with the win.
