Shchemelev Short

Nvel 22 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

David Bell has just taken down two moderate sized pots against Vladimir Shchemelev to get the former $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. runner up perilously close to elimination. The most recent hand saw Shchemelev check-call bets on all three streets, drawing one each time. Bell was pat after the first draw and showed {2-}{3-}{5-}{6-}{7-} and Shchemelev mucked.

Steury Hits Draw to Chop and Stay Alive

Nvel 22 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

Tom Franklin won a good sized pot against David Bell with a {3-}{4-}{5-}{7-}{8-} and on the next hand would get Aaron Steury all in drawing to a five or six as Franklin had {2-}{3-}{4-}{6-}{7-} and Steury was drawing one with {2-}{3-}{4-}{7-}. He squeezed his card and said proudly "chop" as he turned over a {6-}. He joked afterwards about how he should have tripled up but given the circumstances is happy to still be alive.
