According to PokerNews' latest WSOP Player of the Year update, Justin Bonomo is out to an early lead in the 2014 World Series of Poker Player of the Year standings. Bonomo reached his eighth career final WSOP final table last week and finally claimed his first WSOP bracelet, removing his name from the list of the best players without poker's most prestigious piece of hardware.
Bonomo is followed closely in the standings by Brandon Shack-Harris, a cash game player who virtually came out of nowhere to win a bracelet of his own. Shack-Harris won the largest pot-limit Omaha event in Event #3, and followed that up with a runner-up finish in the $10,000 Razz Championship event.
Sitting third in the POY standings through 20 events is George Danzer, who defeated Shack-Harris heads-up in the Razz Championship on Sunday. It was also the first bracelet for Danzer, wideley considered one of the top mixed-games minds in the game.
Rounding out the top five through the first two weeks of the series are Brock Parker and Jonathan Dimmig. Parker picked up his third career bracelet in Event #10, and Dimmig collected the first seven-figure score of the 2014 WSOP with his victory in the Millionaire Maker.

John Cernuto had the bring in and Nick Kost, on his direct left, raised it up. The action folded back to Cernuto who tanked for a bit before raising all in for just a few thousand more chips.

Kost made a full house and Cernuto's rivered flush was not enough to stay alive. We're now down to 11 players.

On fifth street, Max Pescatori led with a bet and John Cernuto cut out a raise. Pescatori called for his final 44,000 and the hands were turned over. Pescatori had a pair of jacks and was behind Cernuto's pair of aces. Pescatori instantly improved on sixth street though, catching a third jack and making trips. He filled up on seventh with another ace, giving him jacks full for the win.
Two hands later, Pescatori won another large pot off of Cernuto, crippling Miami John down to 55,000. Pescatori, on the other hand, is now thriving at 490,000.

Max Pescatori's stack had been dwindling for quite some time, but just now he managed to get his money in against Calvin Anderson. Anderson completed and Pescatori moved all in for an additional 21,000 chips.
Anderson called and two full boards were ran out on the table. Pescatori made a winning combo, but due to the dealer scooping all the cards up before we got them all we did not see them all. Anderson meanwhile takes another hit as he's been losing some chips for a while now.

After a series of bets, the short-stacked Tommy Hang found himself all in on sixth street against Lee Goldman. Goldman instantly flipped over his seventh street card - a - giving him a ten-nine low. Hang slowly squeezed his final card out.
"Oh god," said Hang. "It's a two-sided club. Either four or five of clubs. I'm fifty-fifty."
Hang took a breath, picked up his card, and slapped it on the table.
It was a the , giving him three fours. Hang was eliminated in 13th place and Goldman picked up a pot that brings him up to 825,000 in chips.

Nick Schulman had been short since the start of the day and his run just ended in 14th place. Schulman ended up all in for his final chips against Bruno Fitoussi and we caught the following cards:

The board showed us and while Schulman had flopped top pair, it was Fitoussi's rivered set that took down the pot.
